Since she passed away, I took over the task of making this classic side dish and it's still quite a tradition in our family. I have relatives that wait all year long just to sample this delicacy of gelatin & fruit! Now I must tell you that Grandma forgot to list one important ingredient on the card, 2 packets of Knox gelatin! First time I made this it didn't set up and made a huge mess as I attempted to free it from the jello mold. </div></div>sweetsourhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03823925265680638449noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6708264922124802355.post-89226279240041692202008-12-02T06:52:00.000-08:002008-12-02T11:38:15.021-08:00<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiqacuPk8JySPuaQo2Zy0_3dB2jXHMik6tRlYu1fs8ndGGykHHd6qlfF_s2G5h5UT84YbQR4xVaQHSowtmvJoDjYM-RKhfucP4c3eSYsZTyroAf2aeKzry01a9C7mlAwTLUSNRVspzEQ0w/s1600-h/PalmSprings.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiqacuPk8JySPuaQo2Zy0_3dB2jXHMik6tRlYu1fs8ndGGykHHd6qlfF_s2G5h5UT84YbQR4xVaQHSowtmvJoDjYM-RKhfucP4c3eSYsZTyroAf2aeKzry01a9C7mlAwTLUSNRVspzEQ0w/s400/PalmSprings.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5275275724829762690" /></a><div style="text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: arial;">A painting by my Dad....A visit down Palm Springs memory lane and the long gone Chi Chi club.</span></span><br /></div><br />It's back to reality after a relaxing trip to Palm Spring for Thanksgiving. There's nothing better than stewing yourself in a hot tub after a huge turkey & pie feast! Then we relax at Grandma's condo, play cards & dominos. Catch up with relatives that we don't see often enough. My Mom, Dad & Uncle grew up in Palm Springs in the 50's. When we are together at Thanksgiving out come the stories of how things used to be "back in the day". How as teenagers they worked at local soda fountain shops making date shakes and then cruised Palm Canyon Drive at night. sweetsourhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03823925265680638449noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6708264922124802355.post-88545365740584344922008-11-26T17:14:00.000-08:002008-11-26T17:19:23.441-08:00<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjIQ1qYzDx_MA2ipxKP49_PYiHnQRI5fShrNfFs9JXFoCwmjNUdZlFYV_4_P5h-8KX7LUpeuBDD09WLFe8EFL9znWpLLzi6FcA2Q6wVjWs3ooc-LPtU3yppWzMPIFpcgFDsyObgJ2VMoFg/s1600-h/PIE.jpg"><img style="text-align: left;float: right; margin-top: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-left: 10px; cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 240px; " src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjIQ1qYzDx_MA2ipxKP49_PYiHnQRI5fShrNfFs9JXFoCwmjNUdZlFYV_4_P5h-8KX7LUpeuBDD09WLFe8EFL9znWpLLzi6FcA2Q6wVjWs3ooc-LPtU3yppWzMPIFpcgFDsyObgJ2VMoFg/s320/PIE.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5273139539422731954" /></a><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;">My Dad is the true culinary artist of the family. My very first blog that is!<div><div>I want to start with a little ice breaker just in time for the Holidays. Do you prefer red or white wine at Thanksgiving. My guess is that most will say white wine goes best with turkey. But there are so many delicious red options to choose from. If you don't drink wine, then what would be your beverage of choice? I would have to say ginger ale. I don't know why, it just sounds good to me. </div></div> Place your vote, see top right!sweetsourhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03823925265680638449noreply@blogger.com2
